The Day After

Alright everyone, you had your big feast yesterday and most likely you ate more than you do on a normal day. That's okay, Thanksgiving comes once a year. But now you need to watch out for those leftovers. Today is not Thanksgiving part II. And tomorrow is not Thanksgiving part III. If you want to maintain your weight you must watch your portion sizes. (For more on this go to my post called Size Does Matter.) Do not overfill your plate like you did yesterday. Besides, if you just eat small portion amounts, it leaves more food left over for other days.

Also, many people are inclined to overdo their exercise the day after Thanksgiving. Today is one of the busiest days in health clubs. People think that if they get in an extra 30 - 60 minutes of cardio that they can make up for yesterday's meal. Not so fast there. You can't possibly burn off your meal in one workout session and I don't want you to overdo your exercise and hurt yourself. If you get hurt, then you can't exercise the rest of the week. So my advice is to do just a little bit more cardio over the next few weeks and to maybe eat just a little bit less of the fattening food for a little while. Also, take an extra walk during the day to burn some extra calories. Another good idea is to park far from the entrance to the shopping malls so you get a little bit of extra exercise. (For more on this topic go to my post called Tips on Keeping a Healthy Mind and Body Over the Holidays)

Be smart about this. Be patient. You indulged for one day and it will take a little time to get rid of the excess calories you took in. It's okay, just don't continue to overindulge.
