Stay Hydrated
Now that the warm temperatures are becoming more consistent, it is important for you to remember to stay hydrated. 60% of the body is made up of water and nearly 75% of our muscles are made up of water. If you are looking to lose weight or even build muscle, staying hydrated is very important.
Here are just some of the things that water does for our body:
*Water moisten tissues -- such as those around the mouth, eyes and nose
*Water cushions our joints
*Water regulates our body temperature
*Water helps our bodies get nutrients
*Water flushes out waste products
How do you know if you are getting enough water? It's not that difficult to figure out. Are you thirsty? If the answer is yes, then you are not getting enough water. If the answer is no, then you should be fine. And the old thinking that you need eight glasses of water a day is not true. Every body and everybody is different. A 5'3" woman that weighs 120# has different requirements than a 6'2" man that weighs 225#. Judge by your level of thirst. It is, however, very important not to get to the point of being overly thirsty. Once dehydration sets in, it will take a while to rehydrate.
Sources of water:
You don't have to get your water from just water. There are many ways you can ingest water. All liquids are made up of water to some degree, even the caffeinated beverages count. Fruits and vegetables have water in them, as do water ice, ice cream, and other "refreshing" snacks. Stay away from salty foods and processed foods; this will negate your fluid intake.
